Regret at the apparent increase in the mimher of women drinking in the 'Wellington hotels was expressed by Mr \Y. G. Riddell, S.M., at the annual meeting of the Wellington Licensing Committee on Tuesday. Mr Riddell said the police report on the matter referred particularly to the cases of the White Swan Hotel and the Central Hotel, where more women were served than the committee cared to hear of. r ‘3jt is within the law of course, to serve yornen,” he said, “ hut it is undesirable that women drinkers in hotels should he encouraged, and the committee hope that each licensee will do his best to reduce the number of women drinking in his hotel ”
