In an appeal to the Full Court by a sergeant of police against tbe decision of a magistrate, who refused to convict a man for betting at a mechanical bare meeting, the Full Court held that the mechanical hare sport was not coursing within the meaning of the Gaining and Betting Act, and that a live animal was essential in real coursing, pursued by a brace of greyboumls. Tbe magistrate’s decision was eroneous, and betting at mechanical bare race meetings was illegal.
