BOXING.

IKENEY’S MANAGER COMMENTS,

(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)

GISBORNE, June 7.

In a letter to Tom Heeney’s parents, his manager. Bernard Mortimer, says: “ Tom never lias been hurt in any of his lights and that Tunney will not hurt him as lie is made of wrought iron. The want of real success in England was explained by a minor internal complaint, which was remedied before going to America.” Win or lose the championship bout, Heeney will return to New Zealand. Mr Morttimer says England’s send off to Tom was the greatest ever accorded to an athlete and adds: “Tom knows that he has behind him the whole support • and sympathy of the British Empire.” 'File letter concludes with an expression of confidence in Tom winning the title.
