DISTRICT RACING COMMITTEE

At a meeting of the District Racing Committee held at Greymouth oil Friday last, an application for a change of dates for the Reefton Midsummer Meeting from January 4th. and sth. to January 7th. and Bth. was approved. The secretary of the Westport Jockey Club wrote with reference to the non-payment of fees for nominations and acceptances at the club’s March meeting; hy several owners, and asking that their names he placed on the unpaid forfeit list. The secretary (Mr M. J. Fogarty) said there were occasions when owners who- had not paid up forwarded cheques in payment of nominations and acceptance fees for other fixtures. There was always a remedy in these eases or holding the cheques until the owners had met their obligations. He said that lie had sent a reply to the secretary of the Westport .Toekev Club pointing out that under the Rules of Racing the owners mentioned (with one exception) were debarred from racing until the fees were paid to the club.

The following letter was received from the secretary of the Now Zealand Racing Conference: “With reference to the letter of the Westland Racing Club, dated May 18th., sent to the Grey District Committee, stating that it was resolved hy the stewards to remit the various amounts mentioned in

the letter, I am directed b.v the president to return the 'Westland Racing Club’s letter, together with the form for notifying the fines imposed, and to point out that all fines inflicted must bo included in the form and shall be paid as provided under the Rules of Racing.’’ Applications for trainers’ licenses wer recommended ns follows: —J. J. Shannahan, T. Donncllan, J. Johnston, J. Stewart, R. B. Orange, 0. B. Cameron, Albert Griffen and D. S. Adamson. Applications from K. 33. Orange and Myril W’alshe for joc-Koys 5 licenses were recommended. The secretary of the Kuniara. Racing Glib wrote advising that fines totalling £4 inflicted by the stipendiary steward had not been paid, and asking tbe club’s position in respect of same. It was resolved to inform the secretary that the fines must he collected by the Kumara Club.
