Canada’s trade for twelve months ended April 18th amounted approximately to two and n-hnlf billions, an increase of 23 million. Exports decreased ■">.'! millions and imports increased 7 H millions.
WEST VIRGINIA VOTE. NEW YORK, May 30. Present reports from Charleston, West Virginia, state the Democratic primaries that show in that State Governor Smith is leading Senator Reed hy a slight margin. This may possibly he overcome hy Reed in the final tabulation.
Mr Hoover, against Senator Goff, appears, to have a- similar fate to that which he suffered in Indiana. Senator Golf is apparently victorious, hut hv not a great, number of votes. .Mr Hoover’s hackers are claiming this as another “ moral victory ” in a difficult field, and they believe lie may obtain some six of the nineteen Republican delegates for West Virginia. Mr Hoover’s foes, however, are making much of his defeat, and President Cooiidges’ supporters are cheered by Senator Goff’s run.
