WINTER SHOW

KOKATAHI-KOIT ERAMG! FESTIVAL. ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS. The Kokatahi-Koitcrangi Winter Show, a very popular annual fixture, was successfully inaugurated yesterday under \cry pleasant conditions. The weather, after causing some fears the previous evening turned out gloriously fine yesterday, and assisted to make the outing successful. The Public Mall, Kokatahi, was used for the display of the exhibits, with the exception of the poultry, which were in an annexe at the rear. This year the entries of poultry show a distinct advance and this section made a brave display, White Leghorn fowls, and ducks having the largest entries. Inside of the hall, while two centre tables once engage attention and both arc very attractive, with a wonderful array of articles in each collection. The vegetables and root crops lined each side of the hall, with two centre tables devoted to cookery classes well laden run the length of the hall. Hams and bacons filled the end of the building, while the fancy work was placed on the stage and the children’s work in a side room.

The display generally was of a very attractive nature. The cookery classes were well filled, and the quality was ol the highest, the cakes being very attractive and the competition very keen. Home-made jellies, bottled fruits and sweets made a very attractive exhibit and won general approval. In root crops there was a good display, but the quality was not up to the high standard of last year. There was a good array of pumpkins ano marrows, some of extremely large size. The hams and bacons made a fine cvhibit, as did the dressed lambs and sheep. • in the fancy work section and school children’s classes some excellent work was shown and caused much interest.

There was a good attendance yesterday afternoon for the opening, including a good number from town, while last evening a number went out to view the show, which was favourably commented on by all visitors. The Show is being brought to a conclusion this afternoon.

The officials for the Show, of whom -Mr W. A. Jamieson is President, Mr J. Monk, Treasurer, and Mr T. Keel osfield, Secretary, have every reason to be proud of the result of their efforts. Everything was in excellent order, and the general arrangements very complete, enabling the judging to he carried out in good time for the opening of the Show to the public at the announced hour.

The following judges carried out their duties in a manner that gave every satisfaction:—Poultry, Mr J. J. Breeze; Farm and Garden Produce, Mr AY. I). A TREACHEROUS TROUBLE. Kidney diseases are very dangerous, they come on silently, gain ground rapidly, and cause thousands of deaths that could have been prevented by proper treatment in the beginning. Nature gives early warnings of kidney disease—backache, twinges of pain when stooping or lifting, headaches, urinary disorders. If these symptoms are unheeded there is grave danger of fatal kidney disease. Doan’s Backache Kidney Pills have earned a reputation for their effectiveness in kidney troubles, and are known and recommended the world over:

Mr D. Kcilly, High Street, Knroro. Urey mouth, says: “Many yearS ago, when 1 was mining T contracted a very had cold, which settled on my kidneys. For months afterwards I suffered ngony from backache, tho pain at times being almost unbearable. Tho kidney secretions were seriously affected, being thick and cloudy, and a had colour.
