A FIXED EASTER. WELLINGTON. May 30. At a meeting of the Executive of tlie Associated Chambers of Commerce. it was reported the Bishop of Wellington had intimated he was in favour of the stabilisation of the date of Easter. The Wellington Ministers Association was also in favour ot a fixed date. It was decided to write to the Archbishop of the Homan Catholic Church and on receipt of his reply to refer the matter to the Prime Minister.
RURAL CREDITS. PAHIATUA. May 30. At a largely - attended meeting of fa rmers addressed by Mr S. J. Smith of Masterton (Deputy-Supervisor of Rural Credit Board), the Chairman, Mr J--11. Hodd (President of the Farmers’ Union) in proposing a hearty vote of thanks complimented Mr Smith on his address. ITe said it was not a political question and he considered ft a genuine effort on the part of the legislative to assist those hard up against it. The forming of an association would eventually prove a great blessing.
