ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH

ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISHIONERS,

I hero was a considerable attendance at the Soldiers’ Hall last evening for the annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints’ Church, despite the evening being wet and cold. The Revd. H. Nelson \\ right, newly appointed vicar was introduced hv the Bishop’s Warden, lion H. L. .Michel, and took the chair. 'I he Church accounts were presented hy the Secretary, who also dilated on the financial position which was explained in detail. The year produced a debit which if was suggested should ho wiped out as soon as possible. It was stated the new Church fund (with promises) approximated £IOOO. The statement of accounts was discussed, both Wardens speaking at length. Mr Keller, People’s Warden, suggested the erection of a small parish hall to ho used for guild pulrp'j'ses, particularly in eo;mioiction I with the young people, and also for Sunday School purposes. He intimated that with the erection of the now clmreii, the present church would become the Sunday School and hall for general purposes. The matter was discussed at some length and finally referred to the Church Committee and officers to consider in conjunction with a general building programme, including that of the new church. Officers were appointed as follows: Bishop’: Warden, Hon 11. L. .Michel; People's M arden, Air A. Keller; llyn Secretary, Air J. B. Ward, pro tent.; Treasurer, Air ,1. Jarman; Auditor, Air J. Peake. The Church Committee was re-elected as formerly. A vote of appreciation was carried to all Church workers. Air Michel in speaking to "the motion referred particularly to the untiring work of Air Thorn.

in replying thanked them very heartily for tlie kindness shown him. Ho had heard inue'h of the place and came with a knowledge of the work before him. He intended to stay on and asked their support and good will. He was never happy unless he had the young people round him. and so felt pleased to hear the earlier references to ft suitable hall, and he hoped to enlist the confidence of the young men of the parish.
