EVERYBQDYS PICTURES.

HEAVEN ON EARTH” --WEDNESDAY.

" Moavcii on Earth,” which will ho shown at the Princess Theatre on Wednesday is one of the most unusual and interesting pictures seen in Hokitika for a long time. It was directed by Phil Rosen, and has .Renee Adoree and Conrad Nagel in the leading roles. An unusual amount of thought is expressed on the screen in this production, and Rosen has directed the picture with extreme finesse, handling each scene with delicacy and restraint. His love scenes are touching in the extreme. The story tells of the revolt of

“ Edmond Durand,” played hy Conrad Nagel, from the ambitions of his aunts who would have him marry a woman lie does not love. A passing troupe of gypsies bring to aim the realisation of the futility of his life and he joins them. There follows an extremely entertaining story of his love for the beautiful “ Marcella,” played by Renee Adoree, and their subsequent adventures. Conrad Nagel as “Durand ” is excellent. Especially in the scenes in which he is dressed as a vagabond, and in the scenes in the trenches, he brings a surety and understanding of the Cole that is extraordinary. Renee Adoree, who made such a tremendous hit as “Mclisande” in “The Rig Parade,” gives another vivid interpretation as the gypsy girl, “ Marcella.” The entire cast is excellent, and Antonio D’Algy in a minor role, makes it stand out as one of the most impressive hits in the picture. Gwen Lee, Julia Swayne Gordon, Marcia Manon, and Pat Hnrtigan complete the cast of ]) layers.

A topical and comedy will complete the display on Wednesday.

On Friday next Milton Sills will he seen in “The Honour System.”
