The death took place yesterday morning at the Grey River Hospital, of Mr Edward Hawkins, aged 58 years. Deceased was a native of New South Wales, and came to New Zealand about 30 years ago. He followed mining, ami bad worked in various mines on the Lost Coast for approximately twenty years. Some considerable time ago he contracted miners’ pythisis. bis death being due to that dread complaint. The late Mr Hawkins is survived by two brothers, Messrs Frederick Hawkins, of Greymouth, and Ernest Hawkins, of Te Kuiti.

The Kokatahi-Koiterangi Winter Show opens to-morrow (Tuesday) afternoon at 2 o’clock till 5 p.m. and will re-open in the evening from 7 o’clock to ]() o’clock.
