COOKS’ STRIKE

(Australian Press Association.)

SYDNEY, May 27. 'Twenty .ships are now laid up at various ports awaiting cooks. The Union S.S. Company does not expect that any difficulty will arise in regard to the sailing of the Aorangi on Thursday.

In the absence of any agreement in tlie meantime- in the cooks’ dispute, the last coastal passenger ship Ormisten will lie tied up at Melbourne. SYDNEY, May 27.

Some hope has arisen that the Marine Cooks’ strik'd may be settled on Monday or Tuesday, but the position is critical in the absence of an agreement.

It is stated that there is a chance of the cooks resuming on the owners’ terms.
