SECRET LOVE AFFAIR. BERLIN, March 20. Berlin is aghast at a crime committed last evening hv a typist. The hody of a woman. Frau Schueler, was found on the back staircase of a busi-’ ness house by persons passing down, and the police were informed. The latter discovered that the woman’s throat had been cut' and there b-ul apparently been a struggle. The murdered woman had been employed to clean the offices. Suspicion gradually gathered around a typist who had been seen leaving the building in the. evening, and she was arrested on her arrival at the office this morning. Erna Anthony, the accused, who is 24, denied having committed the crime, hut the detectives observed that she kept her hands clenched under her ap’-on while being questioned. She was askc-d to show them, and on the inside: were cuts which she tried to explain away. Finally, she confessed that she had murdered Frau Schueler. It is believed that the girl, who was extremely sensitive, committed the crime in a fit of despair in view of the fact that Frau Schueler had knowledge of some love aflair which the typist wished to keep secret. The charwoman, it appears, had threatened to expose her. It is 20 years since such a terrible crime has been committed by a woman in Berlin.
