RECEPTION TO WILKINS

Oslo triumphantly received AVilkins and Eilson on arrival from Bergen. The President of the Norwegian Geographical Society headed a welcoming' delegation. Crowds cheered them en route to the Grand Hotel, where the Royal suite was placed at their disposal. They were motored to the home of Captain Amundsen, who held a special reception. The American Minister lunched with the airmen.
There was a gala in the city and banqueting in the evening, when Captain Amundsen (President of the newly founded Norwegian Aero Club) decorated the airmen with the Club’s gold medal, saying they bad covered more unknown territory than other airmen.
Wilkins and Eilson appropriately replied.
AT THE POLE. NOBILE’S REPORT. (Received this dnv at 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 24. King’s Bay reports state the northwest gale was so adverse that Nobile was imaible to carry out his full plans at the Pole. ft was impossible to land, because the anchor would not have held. They could not drop the Pope’s wooden commemorative cross or the Italian flag.
In a wireless message at eleven in tlio morning they announced they were flying off unexplored parts of North Greenland. Oil arriving at King’s Bay at midnight they found the city beilagged.
