AMUSEMENTS.
EVER YBQDYS PICTURES. “ THE WAR HORSE TO-NIGHT. “The War Horse,” to be shown at the Princess Tchatrc to-night, starring Ruck Jones, in a tribute to the horses that served on the fighting* front in France during the world war, is the star’s own story, his first literary effort. Inspiration for this story came while Ruck and Airs Jones were touring Europe recently. Their itinerary included a trip to the battlefields on which Ruck served in the American cavalry. In one location Buck recalled that more than fifty horses were buried, ami this started him thinking about the silent heroes of the war. During his entire tour of Europe in cities and country districts Ruck had noticed horses with the American army brand helping: to repair the damage of war and to rehabilitate the war devastated districts. These were horses which America left in Europe when the war
ended. Then he recalled the memorials which had been erected lo “The Unknown Soldiers” by all the allied nations and tlie tributes which had been paid to heroes on screen and stage. Ruck’s idea finally took shape along the line of the horse’s “ What Price Glory,” a picture' to show the everyday romance, hardships, dangers and fun of the horse on the fighting front in France. Jones is especially well qualified to write this story because he was not only one of the American cavalry’s circus riders, hut he was a premier rider
with Aliller Brothers’ famous 101 Ranch ■Show before lie became one of Fox
Film stars. All this training gave him the correct balance to create this war epic of the horse, and it was filmed under the direction of Lambert Rillyer with a supporting cast which included Lola Todd, Lloyd Whitlock, James (Jordon. Stanley Taylor, and Yola D’Avril.
A topical, further chapters of the serial •‘The Midnight- Flyer,” and a good comedy also will he shown this evening. On Saturday next Norman Kerry and Claire Wilson will be seen in “The Claw.”
