GISBORNE, May 22. Though it is generally expected that I). VV. Coleman will represent Labour interests at the forthcoming elections for Gisborne seat, the local Representation Committee, following the formal course, in calling nominations from affiliated unions, suggesting that Labour may select a candidate to challenge Hon. K. S. Williams (Minister of Public Works lias aroused a mild interest, but the Representation Committee is not committed to this course as yet. Mr Lvsiiar has announced lie is standing for Gisborne as an independent. as on former occasions.
A FIRE. WAIPUPUKURAU, May 22. A six-roomed house owned by Mrs ,J. Davis and occupied by B. Nicliolls was totally destroyed by fire at 9.30 this morning. Practically no lurniture or personal effects was saved. Hie house was situated outside tho borough and no high pressure water was available, the brigade being helpless.

Trevor Wade was thrown from a horse on to his head at Matawai, sustaining serious injuries, and being sent to the hospital. Fred Parsons, riding a motor cycle, crashed into a telegraph post at VV oerengaatuka and sustained a fractured leg and arm. He was taken to Linhospital.
'DELAYED NOMINATION PAPER WELLINGTON. May 22.
The fact, that a nomination, addressed incorrectly, was received late, lias produced an interesting position in regard to ibe Dairy Board election, in the ease of Mr B. T. Booer, of Whitlord. a candidate against Mr VV Grounds. There was apparently a last minute rush in forwarding tho official nomination paper, lor it had not been received by noon yesterday when nominations closed. A registered lettei contained the paper received by the Returning Officer at 3 p.m., but it was found to be addressed to “ Dairy Control Board Election. Wellington.” Hie postal officials had placed a notification in the Board’s letter-box at the Post Office that a registered letter bad arrived. H was not until later it was discovered that the letter should have been addressed to the Returning Officer. Department of Agriculture. The letter was re-addressed but was received too late. It is understood it is not being accepted.

SliirtlifT, of Muller Run. njbout miles from Blenheim was attacked by a stallion oil the station yesterday and sustained fearful injuries resulting ill bis death while being brought to Blenheim. The same stallion attacked the deceased a year ago when lie,sustained a broken leg. GUILTY OF BURGLARY. CHRISTCHURCH, May 22.
At the Alagistrnte’s Court, Henry Patrick Moore. 38, pleaded guilty to eight charges of breaking and entering various houses early this month, and committing theft. Hie police hhid accused travelled round as a tinker. To gain entrance he broke headlights over doors and windows and then loosed tho catch. In all lie had taken £IOO sterling worth of goods and jewellery from eight houses. He was caught in the act at a (Sydenham house. He was committed for sentence, bail not being applied for.
