At Roma Circuit Court, the Jury returned a verdict of manslaughter with a strong recommendation to mercy due to provocation, against the brothers, Lay cock, cabled yesterday. Both were sentenced to five years’ imprisonment. ALLEGED FORGER* MELBOURNE, May 22. -s Four men charged with having conspired to forgo £5 bank notes, cabled on April 29th. Stefan Karasiewiez, (4 Russia,n process engraver), John --Howartli .(contractor), Benjamin Thomas (tailor), Ralph Miller (retired farmer) have been committed' lor trial. A foreign woman, Sena Marchents, who lived with Karasiewiez in'-a remote bush hut near the sea is said to have turned crown witness. A 111 the charges against her were withdrawn. She has recently been cared for by convent nuns. She gave evidence that she first made acquaintance, with Karasiewiez some months ago, when Howartli and Miller took her to the latter’s hut. Afterwards she saw Karasiewiez preparing paper, making watermarks,■» and sometimes note printing was done m the presence of Howartli and Millci.
