LONDON, May .16. The dearth of fast howlers available for the Australian visit is being widely canvassed. Sandham deplores that Counties do not sufficiently search the village greens for hefty possibles. He says he is astounded to see finelybuilt youths who will not try to develop pace. Hobbs says: “In my early days, every County had a good fast- howler. Nowadays they have to jump at the worst offering. 1 think the modern strain of the game wears them out more quickly.”
