President CVolidge to force action in the Senate on the Naval Bill, cabled on May 3rd. He said that under the spur of the pacifist ', the Naval Affairs Committee forgot the President’s big naval plan and also forgot the country, and ran away with a seventeen ship Bill. He urged that immediate appropriations be made to build the three fleet submarines which had been previously authorised. He added : “If they do not do that, the Republican Party and this Administration are exactly one. hundred polecat not in the naval question.”
