RECORDS SMASHED. Clipping from the “Los Angelos Times ” :—The New Ford Smashes All Records Between Los Angeles and Phoenix. Averages 58.26 miles per hour to Phoenix, Arizona, Powering Running Time 1 Hour and 59 Minutes for the Round Trip. Speeding along desert road at more than a mile a minute, a new Ford Tudor Sedan, absolutely stock and completely equipped, broke three Los Angeles-Phoenix road records. On the trip to Phoenix, by way of Yuma, the drivers took the car over 1-1.5 miles of dirt and gravel roads that were rough and rutted, but maintained an average speed of 58.23 miles per hour, demonstrating the ability ol the Ford to sustain high speed hour after hour under gruelling conditions. The time was 8 hours, Tt minutes, and 50 seconds, lowering the record 19 minutes, 10 seconds. The. return trip to Los Angeles, by way of Blythe, took the car over 2C5 miles of dirt and gravel roads, even rougher than-those encountered on the trip to Phoenix. The former record was lowered 1 hour, 39 minutes, and 50 seconds, the running time being 8 hours, .50 minutes, and 10 seconds. Three Los Angelos Ford dealers took turns at driving. The test was officially timed by A\estern Union.
