The success of the farmers' excursion trains run during the past twelve nioulhs has led the Railway Depaitmeut to carry on with this branch of business, and the business agent, Mr I-’. In a certain town in the South Island the young bride of a mature resident decided upon having her hair shingled. Her husband protested without avail. A painful accident betel a man named William Moore, about 9.30 p.m. yesterday, while working in the hush near Bell Hill. It appears that the man was using an axe when it slipped, and the edge came into contact with his knee, inflicting a severe wound. His brother, who was nearby, carried him about one and a-half miles out of the hush to where they hsui lelt a ear. used for conveying them to work. Hirst-aid methods were employed, and the injured man was then taken to Greymonth. where he received treatment from Dr Bird, who subsequently ordered his removal to the Grey River Hospital. Following an operation, his condition was reported to he satisfactory.
