KING WINS RACE. RUGBY, -May 4

The King won his first classic race to-day, when liis filly Scuttle was successful ill the One Thousand Guineas race at Newmarket. Scuttle beat Lord Dewar’s Jurisdiction by a length, Lord Derby’s Toboggan being third. Tbe King and tbe Prince of Wales were present. 'Flic crowd, with bared beads, loudly cheered His Majesty’s victory.

The last horse to win a classic race for a reigning monarch wits Minoru, which won Hie Two Thousand Guineas and Derby in 1009 for King Edward.
