Tlie death occurred at Reef ton on Saturday evening of Mrs Alice Sara, an esteemed resident of many years standing. She leaves a grown-up family, nil of whom have been well-known in the Inangahua district.

Woi'd was received yesterday by Air (!. Webster, of Grcymoutb. of the death of his mother at the Melbourne Hospital. The deceased lady, who had been in good health up to two weeks ago, was 08 years of age, and had visited her son some two months ago.

The Funeral of the late Mrs Ke> took place yesterday afternoon, there being a large attendance ol mourners present. The services at All Saints’ Church and the graveside- were conducted by Rev. Canon Hamilton. A very large number ol tloral tributes and wreaths were received from sorrowing friends.
Tlie death occurred on Saturday at the Grey River Hospital, of Airs Jessie Ellery, of Bliikctown. aged 88 years. The deceased lady was admitted to the Hospital a short while ago suffering from a fracture ol her hip, resulting from a fall while getting out of bed. She had resided for many years in the district, and was wellknown and much respected.
The funeral of the late Air Lewis Gardiner took place on Saturday afteincoll and was attended bv a large number of friends. The pall hearers were four members ol St. Paul s Dramatic Club, the deceased having been a founder member of the Club. Ihe Rev. Knowles Smith conducted the services at the residence and graveside. A large number of, wreaths and flora! tributes were received from sorrowing friends.

The Lyttelton train excursion to the West Coast took place oh Saturday, the passengers totalling oil, of which number 350 came on to Hokitika. The day proved fmo, the train running into a shower at Stillwater for a lew minutes and then the rest of the day was fine till after tin. train had left on the homeward journey. There was a large crowd at the railway station to greet the excursionists who arrived at llokitika just after two o’clock. Hot water was provided on Cass Square and was availed ol by a good many. About a dozen motor cars and buses wore utilised to run a number out to Lake Kanieri, while u good many visited the dredge and were shown its workings, others visiting places of interest and friends, while Re veil; Street bore a busy appearance for the afternoon. The return train left at O.JO o’clock, there being a large crowd oil the platform to bid them farewell. The visitors expressed their pleasure at their visit which was a successful one.
