(From Our Own Correspondent) On Thursday evening in the 'lolara (lull a large gathering assembled to- hid farewed to Mr and Mrs C. 11. Watson on the eve of their departure for Christchurch. His Worship stated the services of Mr Watson as stalim.master for the past 1 years were appreciated 1 1 v everybody, while his activities in the region of sport were well known, and in presenting him with a well-lilled wallet and a handsome suitcase on behalf of the citizens and farmers of the district, wished Mr and Mrs Watson good luck and a happy future. " Messrs J. Mincfmii (farmers). G. IT. (lmpman (Stuart and Chapman Ltd/, p c. MeXabb (sports). A. Donaldson (railway staff) in eulogistic speeches also paid their tributes to the departing guests. Mr Watson suitably replied, thanking the speakers for their very kind remarks and for their handsome presents. Me was pleased to know Ins services had been satisfactory and appreciated if all that had been said were true. Mis staff were entitled to a share of the credit given as without their co-operation the satisfactory iesults could not have been achieved. Me I,ad to acknowledge the advice and assistance SO often received from the Town Clerk and the Mayor, and he thanked the many others who had helped to make his sojourn in Ross so pleasant. The gathering was one of the most successful held in Ross for some time ■uul bore witness to the harmonic relations existing between the citizens and the departing guests. A dainty supper was served aiu dancing continued to an early hour to the excellent music of Miss Evans orchestra. . , Mr and Mrs Watson leave for Christchurch on Saturday.
