PURCHASE OF EARL’S COURT PROPOSED. [Special to Press Assn, hy Radio.] RUGBY, May 1. A project is nloot to build one ol the finest exhibition buildings in the world at Karl’s Court, London, where in the years before the war exhibitions were held which were .successful and highly popular. One of the advantages of Earl’s Court is tlinl. being well within the London area, it is easily accessible. Wembley, where the British Empire Exhibition was held in 1921 and 192), and where the British Industries Fanlias since been held, is outside the London area atul consequently is not so accessible. In any case, its lease for the British Industries Fair expires in 1930.
It is now announced that the Board of Trade is negotiating lor the lease of ground at Earl’s Court with a view to establishing a permanent home for the British Industries Fair, which has developed so greatly both in usefulness and popularity that it promises witlun a few years to he the biggest trade fair in the world.
It is understood that the Undcrground Railways Company, which is the ground landlord of the site, is negotiating also with other parties lot leases, and it is hoped to produce an exhibition which will not only embody British trade and commerce but will have amusements so well developed as to make Earl’s Court tlio popular resort that it used to be.
