BUSINESS FOR MARCH

The following particulars of the loan transactions of the Public Trust Office and new business reported during tbe month ended 31st March hate been supplied by tbe Prime Minister (the Right Hon. J. G. Coates). ‘•The amount paid out in settlement of new loans was £219,123. making a total of £2.515,390 during the financial year just completed. Further new loans were granted to the amount of £67.854. and the total new loans now awaiting completion is £573.079, while offers of loans less than the full advantages applied tor amount to £190.616—a grand total of 9763,694. Applications for additional new loans amounting to £324, 470 are now under consideration. : ‘The new business continues to be satisfactory. The value of the new estates accepted for administration during the month was £588,833, and the total for the year ended 31st March 19”8 exceeded all previous records. It amounted to £6.511,923. an increase of £960.909 over the previous year, which itself provided more new business than had previously been obtaned in any one year. On 31st of March the total value of estates and funds under administration was £4l. 043,523. ‘‘Au exceptionally large* numbei or new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor—648 —were desposited for safe custody by testators during the month and the total of "wills now held is 53,065.”
