BEAM SERVICE. MONTREAL. April HO. It is expected that a beam wireless service between Canada and Australia will open for business shortly. Regular tests have been carried out for some weeks now, and perfect reception and transmission is reported. It is understood that all that remains is the arrangement of the rates, and once this is settled, the service will be put into operation. Tht company has been conducting tests on twentyfive metres, usually between one and ton in the morning. Montreal time, although actually the beam lias been worked at all hours of the day and night. Different wave lengths have been tried for daylight sending, and an allotment will be made in a few days after tbe engineers determine which gives tin* strongest signals,
It is understood that ii wireless system between Xew York and .Montreal is already working, and that it will be possible. with the inauguraton ot the Canadian-Australian service, bathe United States to take advantage of the high speed system to Australia.
