ARAHURA ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
(To the Editor.) Sir.—Would you kindly grant me space in your valuable journal for the following enquiries which arose out ol a meeting of householders held on the 23rd inst at Arahura School, and I would be pleased if the replies are made through the columns ot your paper in the manner and with the candour and publicity as these questions are asked, especially in view of the fact that the matters are of common public interest : 1. Why was not a motion invited for the adoption of the balance sheet for the past year? 2. Why did the Chairman not give the meeting an opportunity to discuss the balance sheet? I). After the ballot had been taken, which resulted in four ties of nominated candidates, why was a denial given to the mover and seconder ot the motion for a re-count, and why was this motion n it submitted to the meeting ?
I. Before proceeding with the election of tlie Committee why did the Chairman take it upon himseli to nominate Mr Maloney, the teacher of the school, as sole scorer? AS hy was this appointment not left to the meeting as is usual on like occasions? I am, etc.. HOUSEHOLDER.
