All available Lifeguard- and Kiiolgmirds at. the Wind.-or .garrison were mobilised when the King Edward \ 11. Hospital, wliieli the late King Kdward opened in 190!). caught lire. The troops tackled the task of moving every patient with wonderful edieieney. Giant Lifeguards plunged into the smoke and brought out in all one hundred patients either in their arms or on stretchers. Other troops stripped the ward- ol bed- and other important furniture, enabling every patient to be installed at the barracks while the lire still burned. Two wings were gutted and the main building damaged.
