The fire broke out about 8 o'clock in the evening and despite the strenuous offers of the large number of residents. who formed a bucket brigade, the flames soon obtained a strong hold on the building, and within a comparatively bricl period the entire structure was consumed, leaving only the brick chimney stack and a small amount of debris. The building was situated opposite the site of the Dunollie Hotel, which was destroyed by fire about two months ago. It was formerly owned and occupied bv Mrs K. The dwelling was used as a hoarding establishment, and since the destruction of the Dunollie Hotel a number of men have been domiciled there.
