THE ACL BLACKS. LUNCHEONED AT SYDNEY. (Received this day at 8 a.in.) SYDNEY, April IS). “Alay the best team win and let us hope it is New Zealand,” said an official of New South Wales Rugby Union at the luncheon given to the All Blacks. President AVood said the team led .by Maurice Brownlie was a representative one and everybody was disappointed there was no opportunity of seeing them in action in Sydney. He hoped the coming tour of the All Blacks would he a memorable and enjoyable one. Mr Wood asked Air Hornig to convey to South African Rugby Union greetings Irom New South Wales, lie was certain the tour would do a great deal for the game in South Africa. Mr Hornig returned Ibanks lor UKgood wishes and congratulated New South Wales on the splendid performance put up by flu- AVaratalis. New Zealand was iust as pleased when they won as they were when their own people won. The Waratalis bad put up a great record. The All Blacks team selected for South Africa was a good one and lie Imped that when the tour was ended, the honours of war would be with the New Zealanders. One tiling was certain in all matches, particularly the tests, both sides would know that they bad been playing football when the game was over. In 1921 the Springboks gave us all we wanted, said Air Hornig, but after all the honours were even. If we do not win this time, wo are good enough sports to turn round and shake hands with our victors.
Endorsing Air Hornig’s remarks and sentiments, Afr Alauriec Brownlie (captain) said it was not an ocensiun for wild talk about possible results of the matches. The results would talk for themselves. He spoke of the growing popularity of the Union game in Now South AYales and thought the time had arrived when all the lull'd work of New South AYales officials was about to bear fruit and that soon the game would spread throughout the C'oiniiiouwealtli.
