MELBOURNE, April 17. The Cont-monwealth Steamship Owners in a slatement points out that jobcontrol is being practised to enforce the demands made in respect to the Ulimaroa. for an additional cook and seullerymaii on the vessel. The owners claim that the vessel Inis been running for eighteen years with the [ resent manning and consider the demand unreasonable, but the Union states that no cooks would he available until the demand was conceded. The statement concluded that in view of these repealed instances of direct action, the owners have no alternative hut to take action against the Union in the Arbitration Court.
