BANK’S RUSE. LONDON, February tr. AVilliam Gamer, aged Id. a carman, of Westbourne-terrnee, Paddington, was charged at Bow-street Police Court yesterday with uttering a forged cheque for £BO at Coutts Bank, Strand, and with assaulting a police officer. Detective Slyfield said he saw two boys receive a packet from a cashier at Coutts Bank and followed them to Craven-passage. Strand, where they handed the packet to Garner. When lie (the detective) stopped Garner, the latter struck him tu ice in the lace, and, as he staggered forward, kicked him with his knee or foot on the cheek. A clerk at Coutts Bank said that by arrangoment with the police a dummy packet was handed to the hoys who presented the cheque.
