(fly ‘ Arenre.’) A report from the deer-stalking camp at 1/nndsho rough, South Most land, goes to £Sgjw that the season has opened auspiciously. There are some 25 stalkers this year and they are accompanied by over 20 guides and packers. Everything points to a very successful season for South Westland. A complaint is made ol the Haast track, particularly on the "Westland side. The state of the track on the Otago side is, according to reports, a credit to the authorities, hut the Westland side is badly in need of attention.

Signs erected for the convenience of motor toursts throughout South \\ ostland are really a credit to the C antcrbury Automobile Association, hut the sign at Ross has proved itself to he inadequate for the purpose intended, private motorists frequently taking the wrong direction and iindng themselves on the beach, some 2 miles off the main road. Very heavy rain was experienced here on Good Eridav and Easter Saturday hut that did not dampen the enthusiasm of the euchre players who turned up to the weekly euchre and ,lance in full force.
