EyERYBODYS PICTURES. “THE SHOW” THURSDAY. Girls—how about a nice rattlesnake lor a pet r Or maybe a young python —which can be wrapped around the neck like a searl—or a green viper that matches the latest shades of green gold jewellery very artistically S' Strange as it may seem—snakes make as nice pets as dogs—if one only gets used to them. Not even the faithful affection of an adoring spaniel transcends the inspired love of a sentimental watcrmoecasin or the ardent worship of an amorous and undulating cobra! So says Marjorie Williamson, pretty snake (■banner, whose profession is handling reptiles—and who plays an important role in “The Show,” Tod Browning’s new Metro-Goldwyn-Maver production starring John Gilbert and Renee Adoree and coming on Thursday to the Princess Theatre. Miss Williamson was enlisted' from a circus to play the snake charmer in the sideshow scenes in the new romance of Budapest—and she attempted to convert screen stars to her way of thinking and take up snakes as pets. She didn’t succeed. She wound her scaly pets about her and caressed them like a basket ol puppies—but could not find anyone willing to do the same. ‘‘Snakes.” she says, “are starved for afleclion. and when a snake is appreciated he is as faithful as a dog." The new picture is a vivid romance of the Budapest underworld, much of its action lying in a strange Budapest sideshow or “ Palace of Illusions." in which the snakes play an important part—also the pretty snake charmer.
