AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODYS PICTURES. “ THE LOVE OF SONYA ” —TO-NIGHT. Spectacular, beautiful and historic scenic effects Help make “ The Love of Sunya,” Gloria Swanson’s first United Artists’ picture, which comes to the Princess Theatre to-night (Saturday), tlie greatest photoplay in which the star has appeared. The scenes in “The Love of Sunya ” range from a poor man’s lint to a rich man’s mansion. There are reproductions of the famous Opera Combine, a temple in the Himalayan .Mountains and striking scenes from Paris, New York, and a small suburban city. This wide variety of scenes is required because of the five characterisations Miss Swanson portrays in the photoplay. Three of these are played in America, one in France and the other in Egypt. She is seen in the incarnation of an Egyptian girl. Centuries later she visualises a modern young girl. Next she is found in the characterisation of the temperamental opera singer who captivates Paris. Then she portays a school teacher, and. iinnlly, the wife of a millionaire. Perhaps, the most interesting scenes to those who are familiar with Paris are the reproductions of the Opera C’nmique in the French capital. Miss Swanson desired to make motion pictures ol this historic structure, for use in “ Ihe Love of Sunya,” but officials explained they could not permit this. So the star had photographs made from which Hugo linllin, noted art director, produced exact duplicates for the picture. A comedy and gazette will support the big star attraction. Usual prices will be charged.

Monday—“ Kept by the Law” and ‘Strings of Steel” (serial).
