CONCERT AND BALL

The Concert and Hall held in the Aruhura School on Wednesday last was a pronounced success, in fact both concert and bull taxed the school to its holding capacity. Punctually ut 8 p.m. the opening chorus “Come to the Fair’’ was rendered by the massed children. This item was followed in quick succession by Miss Malta Tainui, with a pretty song, nuiwery rhymes, recitations and action songs, which reflect credit on ike pains-taking assistant teacher. The first part of the programme was brought to a close bv three beautiful Maori items led by Airs Foary. The second part of the programme was opened also hy the .Maori party with well executed liakas in which Mrs Ferny, M. and H. Mason and Jack Tainui took leading purls. Ollier good items were the instrumental trio hy the Ackers Trio, a violin solo hy one of the same, the song “Grelelien” and physical drill steps by senior girls, and I was nearly forgetting th? Rollie’s .Doctor, which was in the hands of and capably rendered by Master Hector Tainui and a bevy of young patients. .Miss McConnell and Aliss A. Toker gave short but pretty songs. The concert would not have been the success it was without the valuable assistance of the outside contributors—Miss Hanralian, Aliss Sherri ff, Aliss Turner (Irish Jig) and Afr Maxwell, the possessor of a fine baritone voice which he knows how to use. iTlie accompaniments were in the callable hands of Aliss Al. Taker. The Chairman of the School Committee (Air A. Richards) thanked the teachers, performers and audience.
