It is understood that the Foreign a lid Dominion Offices are not anxious inasmuch us the Wald’s repudiation o. the Treaty throws Egypt hack upon the Declaration of 1922. Should Wafd carry out the threat of repudiating the declaration, the result would be Egypt’s loss of sovereignity, and the restoration of supremacy of Britain, voluntarily .surrendered by the 1922 Declaration. Whatever the result of negotiations British troops will he retained and canal traffic safeguarded. Official circles liken Xahas’s policy to cutting the strands of rope by which he was assisted to climb to his present position.
