BRITISH LABOUR PARTY. LONDON. April ;l

Ihe " Daily Telegraph’s” Parliamentary correspondent says the Labour Party is much concerned about the Party’s finances. The normal annual income has dropped from 150.000 to L'25,000. primarily due to loss of membership since the great strike, but the act under which trades unionists have to contract in before they are liable for political levy is another factor. Unless new sources of revenue are tupnhlc, election work must he curtailed, as the year’s expenditure of h'(i.'k.'Kin in connection with the coining general election is causing anxiety. The matter will lie discussed at a special meeting to-day. when Mr Henderson will preside and Mr Ramsay .MacDonald will speak on the subject of tbe general election.

A WOMAN'S IDIOSYNCRASY. LONDON, April 2. A remarkable dispute between the Paignton Council and Miss Gertrude Ronira Hoskyns. who claimed the right in accordance with ancient Greek rite, to leave food and wine in her mother's vault, lias resulted in an action for damages against the Council for wrongly obstructing her entrance to the vault.

Counsel said Miss Hoskvns was a member of an old family with high education, honours in Natural Science, and a Master of Arts of Dublin, and her father was a great scholar, particularly in early Christian rites and services. The vault contained four additional grave spaces. The Council claimed she had no light to enter the vault except for purposes oi interment. The caretaker, together with a policeman, ejected her when she opened the vault for purposes of ventilation. They also removed food and other things, including wooden tables, flowerpots, brass candlesticks, a mirror, scent bottles, two pennies, five two-shilling pieces, port wine, camphor, plates, cups, saucers.

spoons, a pound tin of coffee, Madeira wine, violets, vanilla and laiendai. Miss Hoskyns gave evidence that she used the vault as a chapel. Every chapel was full of furniture. She put money there because metals had power, and silver was plus electricity, and copper minus electricity. The case was adjourned. A FATALTTY. (Received this day at S a.m.) HONG KONG, April 3.
