(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.') NON-STOP FLIGHT. SYDNEY, March 31. Hinkler made a non-stop flight from Melbourne to Cook, on the Trans-Con-tinental railway, a thousand miles, a record in Australia, equalling his own iliglit from London to Rome. LANCASTER ARRIVES. SYDNEY, March 31.
The Red Rose reached Newcastle racecourse in pouring rain, a gusty wind making the landing difficult. Only a few minutes supply of petrol was left so Lancaster decided to risk alighting on the course which appeared under water. The machine landed hut was cnuglit by a gust of wind and turned toward a fence. Airs Miller averted an accident by climbing out of (lie cock-pit and running alongside the machine, throwing her weight against the wing. The plane thus swung round parallel with the fence which was missed by inches. Mrs Miller is an ex-pupil of Craighead School, Ti ru. RECORD SPEED. ROME. March 30. At Venice. Bcrnardi in a seaplane reached a speed ol 3*20 miles hourly. SYDNEY. April 1. The aerial Derby was decided over course of 12 miles. The race was won by Flying Officer Mulmoney, in 1!) minutes.
