SCHOOL SPORTS
GALA DAY ON CASS SQUARE. The scholars of Hokitika District High School held their annual school sports on Cass Square yesterday afternoon under perfect weather conditions, but the attendance ot onlookers was considerably curtailed owing to the Counter attraction of tlio speed contests on the river. The children themselves, however, were in the best ol spirits and the success of their particular section mates received their very hearty approbation. The scene was a gay one, several events being run off at the same time, the Rector and teaching staff having a very Inisy afternoon in arranging tbe various contests and getting them run off. The scholars entered whole-heartedly into the sports and the result were von pleasing and successful. BOYS EVENTS. B —blue; R —red ; G—green ; Y—gold. Boys 5 years, 25 yards.—J. Robinson (B) 1, F.
