“MOTH” PLANE FLIGHT

(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) HAMILTON. March 27. A Tlavilainl “Moth” plane, recently purchased hy Air Douglas Mill, 'if Auckland, reached here to-day. Mr AHII left Auekand this morning, with the intention of reaching Christchurch by nightfall, AA’hen nearing AYaikato Head, a storm approached, and he was forced to fly further inland as the benzine supply was becoming exhausted. He came down here. “I realise that, through this delay, I have ncr chance of reaching the (South Island to-day,” said Mr Mill, “so we intend continuing the flight to Hawern, where we shall stop with friends for the night.” Asked whether he would go to Christchurch to-morrow, Mr ATill laid he was not sure. A great deal depended on whether the Moth was incapable of standing up to heavy weather. Mr Mill hopped off again at 1.30 p.m. HAAYER.V, March 27. The flying Moth two-seater plane front Auckland to Christchurch, in which Afr Douglas Afill is travelling, accompanied hy his wife, arrived here at four o’clock this afternoon. If the weather is suitable, the journey is being continued in the morning, probably as far as Blenheim. Leaving Tamaki at 9.57 this morning, AH Alill had intended to refill his petrol tanks here and continue as far as Blenheim to-day, hut ho was delayed hy.heavy winds, and rain over the AYaikato district, with the result that he landed at Hamilton an hour and twenty-five minutes after leaving Auckland.' The (light was resumed at 1.35 into a stiff south-westerly. Hawern being reached in two hours and 25 minutes.
