RECORD SHIPMENT OF STUD CATTLE

I OR. THE SYDNEY ROYAL SHOW. New Zealand breeders of stud beef cattle—Shorthorns, Tlerefords and Aberdeen Angus—will be very tsrongl.v represented at the coining Easter Show at Sydney, N.S.W., as a record .shipment has just been made of the breeds named. Experts state that included are some cattle of more than usual merit, and if they land in good order, should lie capable of winning honours in the various classes in which they will compete. The great hulk of the shipment, however, which comprises 56 head, are being shipped primarily to participate in the sales of stud beef cattle which are a feature of the Royal Shows in Australia. It is anticipated that the pick of the New Zealand cattle will meet with a very keen sale, and it is anticipated that tlie sales generally will he the best- for some years as conditions throughout New South Wales and Queensland are abnormally good. The largest shipper is Mr L. White, of Raknia, who has sent forward 39 Shorthorns, of which three are stud hulls and the balance stud cows anil heifers. Mr D. Buchanan, of Tepunipiiri!, Masterton. will be represented by three Shorthorns, including the very fine two-year-old, Ala ungnrak i Duke 132nd, he Bushey Park Pure Gold, from Cambridge Duchess 34th. which has been undefeated Ibis season, and was loserv*' champion at the Hawke’s Bay Show in the spring. Sir Douglas AlacLoan, ol Alaraekakaho, Hastings, will he represented hy three well-bred yearling hulls which were not shown this season, and Air J. A. lolmtsone, of Bushev Park. Palmerston South, will ho represented hy four hulls ol the same breed including his lino red hull. Bushey Park Diamond Alarquis, by Rothiebrishane Diamond (imp.), from Bushey Park lea Rose (imp.), which was second in Itis class at the Royal Show. This comprises the Shorthorn exhibit from the Dominion. Air .las. M.cKenzie. of Alaungahina. Masterton. has also sent across three high-class Hereford hulls, all ol which have been prize-winners during tin' past season. In addition to these shipments on owner’s amount, Afossrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., advise iiaiing shipped eleven head of Aberdeen Angus cattle purchased in New Zealand recently hy Air Gordon Alunro, of Bingara, New South AVales. Four of these are to he exhibited at (he Royal Show hy Air Alunro, and these comprise two females selected from the well-known herd of Air AN. A. ...cFarlanc. AVaiterenui, Hastings, and an equal number from Hie Bywell herd of Air das. Ellingliam, Onnondvillc. Included is Air Ellingham’s champion cow at the recent Daimevirke Show. Celandine of Clenelg, by Quality ol Alaisemore (imp.), and her prize-win-ning call hy Victor ol Rarichic (imp.). Air Alunro secured his foundation cattle in Now Zealand some years ago. and he ie ports that the Aberdeen Angus breed is making such solid progress in New South Wales and Queensland time he felt called upon to further extend bin herd by additional importations from New Zealand. Ltd. also shipped at the same time, to a New South AAnles breeder, the Royal Show winning yearling Shorthorn hull, Bushey Park Diamond Butterfly, hy Rothiebrishane Diamond (imp.) from Nnemoor Butterfly 2nd, bred hy M.r J. A. Johnstone, of Bushey Park, which was sold recently at a high price. This is a particularly high-class representative of tlie breed.
