baker FIXER. WAXGaXET. March 2(3. A prosecution under the Health Act for storing flour and not protecting it from vermin and dust, resulted in Charles Jas. Gordon, a baker, being fined CIO. Defendant bought a large quantity of flour in July last in anticipation of a rise. A portion ol tliis was stored adjacent to the bakerv and the sacks were riddled with rats. Four tons were condemned and the remainder was sold as pig feed. MAX’S DEATH. AVAIPITKUUAE, March 26. While exploring the wrecked steamer Maroro at Blackshead on Friday, Harry Trickle-bank, 33, employed as a cook liy the Jas Hunter station, fell down the hold and injured his head. He died in the AVaipukarau Hospital to-day.
