At the murder trial of Allan George N'orgrove, the following is the accused s statement:— “ I am a single man, 27 years ol age, anti reside with my parents in Sussex Street, Grey Lynn. I have been spending week-ends with my sister-in-law .Mrs Ernestine Mary N'orgrove, at Cardwell Street, New Lynn, every week end. “About .10. do a.m. on .March 7til. One word brought on another and Mrs Norgrove went into her bedroom. 1 followed her. 1 lelt the bedroom, went into the bathroom, picked up a Hat iron, and went hack to the bedroom. We had some more words and 1 struck her on the head with the Hat iron. She fell on the floor of the bedroom and I struck her several times when she was on the floor. I do not know how many times, as I must have been mad after I had struck her (Mrs Norgrove) down. “ | left the house, hut before I left l locked it up anil took the back-door key. I spent most of my week-ends for twelve months with Mrs Norgrove at New Lynn. Her husband died three years ago. “I then reported the matter to Constable Leslie at Ponsoiibv Police Station. “ I went to see Mrs Norgrove on March 7tl, to see if she was going to her daughter .Mavis’s wedding sit the Registrar’s office that day.
