THE ALIEN LASCAR. GISBORNE, .March 1!!. Ahdoolnahee Sultan Kn who because of threats of Lascar shipmates on the Argyllshire, was brought ashore atGisborne on .March 10 for his own protection, was again before the Court this morning on a charge of assaulting Toherilbi Annis Mahmud. The police intimated they would offer no evidence and the charge was withdrawn. Abdool was then charged with landing in New Zealand without a permit, being ail alien. Counsel explained that the man was brought ashore for his own safety. The other charge could nob he proceeded with s's Abdool had been guilty of no offence, hut he was not entitled to he released, and the only thing was to keep him here till the departure of the boat for Sydney, and thence he would he sent to Rangoon. Although he had done no wrong he would have to he kept in custody.
