LATE LOCALS.
In the absence of the occupants, the five-roomed residence of Mr Darrel Syme at Runanga Gully was destroyed by fire, together with the whole of the contents. .Mrs and Miss Syme left in the evening about six o’clock for Greyniouth, and it was about three hours later that the home .which was situated behind a hill, near Seddm Terrace, was destroyer, the lire when discovered having too strong a hold for any attempt at salvage, ft is believed that coal from a fire that had been left banked nr-- 1 fallen on the hearth. 'lho insurances in the United Office, were LOW. including pO|Q on the furniture and piano and £250 on the house, whi' lt was owned by IVlf Syme.
