The Auckland District Racing Commttce to-day concluded an inquiry regarding the ownership, training and running of tlio horse Dress Circle. As a result tlie following disqualifications and suspensions and linos were imposed : William James Burnett, owner, was disqualified for a term of three years, anil lined £2O. Leslie Henry Wynyard. for training Dress Circle without a license, was disqualified for life. Andrew Aladdin Robertson’s trainer’s license was suspended for a period of two months. Charles Norman Carmont, licensed jockey was suspended for one month. Lloo Raymond Coleman, licensed jockey, was also suspended for a similar term. Thomas Richards, unlicensed trainer, was disqualified for two years. Hilton Gussev, stable band, for making false statements, was severely cautioned . The Committee, in its report, stated:—“This Committee, as requested by tlie President of the Now Zealand Racing Conference, lias made a careful inquiry into the question of the ownership, training and connections of the horse Dress Circle, during the period August. 1927 to Afaveli 7th. 1928. and finds as follows :- - The. racehorse Dress Circle was purchased by or on behalf of William James Burnett, about the beginning of or just prior to September, 1927, and removed temporarily to the charge of Andrew Af ncklin Robertson, trainer, and thereafter transported to Devonport, where one, Leslie Henry Wynyurd, an unlicensed trainer and disqualified person, took over the horse, and it remained under his care and management until November 14tli. 1927. when it was sent back to Andrew Alaeklin Robertson’s stables to he trained by Robertson. The horse was returned by Robertson again and transported to Devonport and handed over to the care of Leslie TTenrv Wynyard, who continued to care for and train the horse until December 9t,h.. when Thomas Richards, at the request of Leslie Henry Wynyard took charge of tlie training, ostensibly under the direction of the owner, A\ illiam James Burnett. The Committee find that prior to Christmas until after the Botorua Races, the said ibbr.se was trained by T. Richards, an unlicensed trainer. and not by the owner, Andrew Aladdin Robertson, licensed trainer. Chads Norman Carmont and Loo Raymond Coleman, licensed jockeys, and Hilton Gussev, stable-hand, admitted having acted under instructions in regard to the horse Dress Circle, given by Henry Leslie Wynyard. a person whose name was on the list of disqualified trainers in the official calendar, and that they were liable by reason of their acting on such instructions from a disqualified person, Wynyard, moreover, being a person debarred from attending race meetings, or taking part in tlie care, management or training of racehorses, by reason of In’s coming within the regulations made by clubs under Section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908.” The Committee, in recording the punishment as set out above, states that in tlie cases of Burnett, Wynyard and Richards, it is satisfied they were guilty of corrupt- practices, under the specified terms of the Rules of Racing, it is satisfied they were guilty of corrupt practices, under the specified terms of the Rules of Racing, and in the cases of Robertson, Carmont, Coleman and Gussev. that they were guilty of misconduct.
