FLIRTING WITH A COUNTESS.
HER LIN, Jan. 2. Captain Hosier is to bo taught by a disciplinary court the exact rules wliicli a Prussian police officer must, observe in conducting a flirtation with a beautiful countess. ’I ne charming person with whom bo flirted, the Countess von Uotbmcr, has lodged no objection against bis conduct. The persons who arc vaguely described as “ tfie disciplinary authorities ” bold, however, that bis conduct was unsuitable for an ofliecr ol police. The result of their investigation is embodied in a document ol 20 typewritten pages, which constitutes the indictment against him. The worst charges against him arc. “ JIo often walked in the streets ol Potsdam with the countess without her husband ; “Jlis telephone conversations with the countess were, according to the evidence of a policeman, ol the most shameless kind, which is clearly shown by the fact that he called her ‘darling’ and ‘ dear child ’ ; “ At a police hall at which a number of the. wives of policc-ofliccrs were present he so far forgot himsell as to dance with a milliner.” Captain Hester declares that his conduct has always been correct.
