NOVEL RACING
balloon ascents. On Cass Square next Saturday afternoon there will be some novelty events in balloon racing. , Tlio first event will be open to all sporting bodies, entry 5s each, and there are expected to be entries from the following Clubs:—Westland Racing Club, Westland Trotting Club, Cycling and Athletic Club, Football Club, Hockey Club, Basket Ball Club. Cricket Club, Swimming Club, Bowling Club, Golf Club, Hokitika Tennis Club, All Saints Tennis Club, Gun Club. The event is timed for 2.30 o’clock. Twelve feet balloons will bo used in this race. The second event will be the local bodies race limited to four entries, nomination 7s 6d, as follows:—.Westland County Council, Hokitika Borough Council, Hospital Board, Harbour Board. This race will be started at 3 o’clock. Twenty feet balloons will compete in this race. The third event will be Town versus Country, entry 10s in which the balloons will be thirty feet._ Cobham (Town) will race against Hinkler (Country) and it should prove the race of the day. The event is timed for 4 o’clock.
