CLAIM FOR DAAIAGES. GISIiORXE, March S. An action in which Depclicilot. .McLeod and Co. claimed (.'3,000 from W. Douglas Lysnar is proceeding ill the Supreme Court. The sum claimed represents a guarantee allegedly given by Lysnar on behalf of bis brother. George Henry Lysnar. A further claim for C.lal is made against both Lysnar.s lor n sum alleged to be due under u promissory note, George Lysnar, admitting liability. \V. I). Lvsnnr’s defence to l lie major claim is that bo is released from liability by reason of plaintiff's refusal to carry out the conditions under which tile guarantee was given. The ease is proceeding.
GISIiORXE SESSIONS. GISBORNE, March IS. At the Supreme Court, Percy RugjjreLt appeared on oliiirpco.s ot indecent assault on a boy, and indecent assault on a girl under the age ot fourteen. . In respect to the charge concerning jibe girl, the evidence disclosed that the ease was not brought within nine months of the alleged offence, and on the advice of the •fudge, the Crown | dropped the case. I On the charge of indecent assault o' I a bov. accused was sentenced to twelve months’ probation. James Blakeley, ox-constable of Tolaga. pleaded guilty to forgery and theft, as a servant of the Governnielli . The stolen money represented portions of lines indicted on persons hv a magistrate, alterations being made in the criminal records corresponding with the amount taken. I Accused was sentenced to three : mouths' hard labour.
